The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Advisory Board of Contra Costa County is looking for volunteers to fill several vacancies on the board. The 18-member board advises the Health Services Department and the County Board of Supervisors on the treatment and prevention of drug and alcohol abuse. AOD Advisory Board appointees serve three-year terms.
Applicants must be 18 years or older and live in the districts they represent. There are seven vacancies that need to be filled: two in District 1, two in District 3, one in District 4, and two in District 5. (See the Board of Supervisors' website to find a district map.) People applying should have knowledge of, or an interest in addressing, alcohol and drug issues in their communities.
The AOD Advisory Board generally meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month in Martinez from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Meetings are also occasionally held in each supervisorial district from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in order to provide outreach to residents of those areas.
Applications can be obtained online at cchealth.org/groups/aod_board/membership.php, or by calling Fatima Matal-Sol at (925) 335-3307. Completed applications should be sent to the corresponding district representative on the Board of Supervisors.
