Nominate People Who Make a Difference Combating Alcohol, Other Drugs

What:

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board of Contra Costa County is seeking nominations for the 2011 "People Who Make a Difference" Awards, which recognize individuals and groups who have contributed significantly toward combating alcohol and other drug abuse in Contra Costa communities. Nomination forms are due April 15.

Who:

Nominees must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Identified an alcohol and other drug problem and initiated effective change
  • Contributed to reducing the impact of alcohol and other drugs in Contra Costa communities
  • Produced a significant shift in community alcohol and other drugs awareness

There are six award categories for 2011: Volunteer Individual, Volunteer Group, Non-Volunteer Individual, Non-Volunteer Group, Youth Leadership Individual and Youth Leadership Group. Past winners are not eligible for nomination.

The Board of Supervisors will acknowledge winners at 9:30 a.m. May 17 during its regular meeting at 651 Pine Street in Martinez. A reception will follow.
