Project Homeless Connect Provides Free Health and Legal Services
Thursday, June 9, 2011
What:
A one-stop shop aimed at helping homeless residents of Contra Costa become self-sufficient will feature a Clean Slate Clinic for the first time. The Clean Slate Clinic is one of many free services that will be offered during Project Homeless Connect 7, a one-day event June 15 in Richmond that connects people experiencing homelessness with food, medical and dental care, substance abuse programs, shelters and more. The Clean Slate Clinic helps people with criminal records obtain their record of arrest and prosecution sheet, offers screening, intake and counseling, as well as legal information on housing, background check and employment issues. Volunteers are still needed for Project Homeless Connect 7. Call 925-313-6124 or show up the morning of the event to volunteer.
When:
Project Homeless Connect 7 is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Street, Richmond, CA 95804.
Why:
Thousands of people experience homelessness each night in Contra Costa. Project Homeless Connect 7, sponsored by Contra Costa Health Services, the City of Richmond, Chevron and the West Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee, provides health services and promotes good health for the entire community. It is made possible with support from Courtyard by Marriott, the UC Berkeley Police Department and Richmond Police Department.
