Archived. This is an older press release from 2009 and may not contain the latest information. Please view our current press releases for 2023 items.

What:

The time for a public hearing on three components of Contra Costa Health Services´ Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) plan has been changed. Draft plans for the components — Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI), Workforce Education & Training (WET), and Capital Facilities & Information Technology (CFIT) — are available on the CCHS website, www.cchealth.org.

When and Where:

The public hearing will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in the Concord Police Department´s Community Room, located at 1350 Galindo Drive in Concord.

Why:

WE&T is one of the MHSA components in which Contra Costa Mental Health is conducting an extensive community planning MHSA, which was approved by California voters as Prop. 63 in 2004, levies a 1% tax on individuals with a taxable annual income of more than $1 million. PEI programs aim to raise awareness about mental health problems, as well as intervene early using low-intensity approaches to help prevent and treat mental illness. The goal of WET is to create a high standard for people who work in or are involved with the mental health field. CFIT identifies new facility and technology needs to better support the mental health community.
