Chevron Refinery Report Posted

What:

Chevron Refinery in Richmond has submitted its required 72-hour report on the January 15 fire at the Chevron refinery in Richmond.

When:

The report was received at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 18.

Where:

The report is posted on the Contra Costa Health Services website at http://www.cchealth.org/

Why:

Contra Costa County's Hazardous Materials Program Incident Notification Policy requires a report be submitted after accidents occur at local refineries and chemical plants.

Additional Information:

A more complete report is due from the refinery on February 14. A final report will be submitted following a root cause analysis required by the City of Richmond’s Industrial Safety Ordinance. The County’s Hazardous Materials Program staff will monitor how Chevron performs the root cause analysis and will follow-up on corrective active.

Supervisor John Gioia is sponsoring a community meeting on January 24 from 7-8:45 p.m. to hear community concerns about the incident. (Information about that event will be released shortly.)
