County Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board Seeks Members

What

The Contra Costa County Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board is recruiting members to fill eight vacancies. The 21-member board works in collaboration with the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Division of Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) and provides input and recommendations about family and community needs regarding treatment and prevention of alcohol and drug abuse problems. The Board also works to increase public awareness about alcohol and other drugs issues and reports to both CCHS and the County Board of Supervisors.

When & Where

Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 3:45 - 6:15 p.m. at 2425 Bisso Lane, Concord, and are open to the public. Occasionally, some meetings are held in various locations throughout the County from 7 - 9 p.m.

Who

Applicants must be at least 16 years old and live or work in the Supervisorial District for which they apply. One spot is open in District V (Antioch, Bay Point, Bethel Island, Pittsburg and Oakley), one in District IV (Clayton, Clyde, Concord, Pleasant Hill and part of Pacheco) and four at- large and one alternate. Applicants for the at-large or alternate positions must simply live or work in Contra Costa County. Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Terms are three years and members are required to attend monthly meetings and participate in projects.
