Placement Openings
- 1 MFT, MSW or LPCC trainee (2nd/3rd year) or Postgraduate
- 24 hours per week
- Placements will begin August/September 2023 and end May/June 2024
- Required attendance: One hour of individual supervision for every five hours of client contact for practicum placement
- Required training from 9am-12pm on the third Wednesday of the month for countywide trainings
- Required participation in a multi-disciplinary team
Program Description
The Health, Housing, and Homeless Division is a field-based program that serves culturally diverse, severe, and persistently mentally ill and other consumers within Contra Costa County. Services provided include short-term case management, counseling, linkage to ongoing mental health treatment, support for consumers while in crisis residential housing and homeless shelters, assistance in finding long-term housing, and facilitating the development of independent living skills.
The trainee/postgraduate will learn assessment, diagnostic and crisis intervention skills, as well as short and long-term treatment planning. The trainee/postgraduate will meet with clients for assessment and treatment in various locations within Contra Costa County, possibly including street outreach. The trainee/postgraduate will be exposed to multiple theoretical approaches and modalities. The trainee/postgraduate may work with doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, licensed clinicians, community support workers, and others in a coordinated and supported manner. There will be a $15 per hour stipend.
